Nearing the end...

Wow. Two more weeks and I'll be back in the states. That's so weird. So yes, ladies and gents! I shall be back in the good ol' U.S. of A. on June 22. And I'm ready to be home. I want some blue skies, Mexican food, a comfy queen-sized bed (aka my bed at home), less crowded streets, and see my friends and boyfriend. To actually see them would be nice, rather than just talking on the phone or viewing a projection on a screen. No bueno.

So it's EXCITING that it's only two more weeks. It also means that I have finals coming up. I really only care about one class — my Chinese characters class. I really really want an A in this class, and it's probably the only class where I won't get an A. Boo. I'm doing pretty well in Korean, and I'm quite sure I'm doing fine in my other two classes. But hanja is sooo difficult because now it's 300 characters that all blur together. Is it 13 strokes or 14? I have one that's 23 strokes. But actually, it's the ones that have less than 10 strokes that are the hardest. 

I have two other finals. One is my Korean final, which has multiple parts. Listening, reading, speaking, overall. Shouldn't be too bad, but I have to give a 3-minute speech again and I have to write it sometime soon. My other is for my North+South Korean Politics class, which has a giant essay. I should be fine on that since it's history and I'm good at history, even if I'm not a huge fan of this class. 

And finally, I have a final paper I have to write. I thought it would be due next week, but apparently it's due June 23, which is... after I come back... I'm supposed to upload it onto the school server, but I don't trust the school server so I'm going to try finishing it up this weekend or something. I haven't started and it's 10 pages long... I guess 10 pages isn't really that long though, so maybe that'll be okay. 

I just want to do well. Yeah all my classes are pass/fail, but still! I want to do well!

That's my situation right now. Actually, a lot of people from ANC are coming this summer, and so I might meet up with some of them, which will be amazing! I can't wait to come back and see you all soon :) 

The Weather

Weather = 날씨 (nahl-shee)

Under my Twitter feed, you can see this little Goggle app that lets you see the weather in Seoul (at least, that's what it's supposed to do. Let me know if it isn't). In any case, it's going to be cold in Korea. Super cold. 

I looked up more detailed weather on wunderground.com and basically it's' going to be cold for a while. And possibly rain. And snow. AHH. The average temperature at this time of the year is supposed to be in the 40s and it's in the 30s. 

But don't worry because I'll survive somehow — thick socks and lots of layering — or just complain all the time. On the bright side, maybe I'll have some pretty pictures of snow in Seoul. Whee! 

I'm finally done (mostly) packing.

That picture was during the process of packing. So much stuff. And I think I'm over the weight limit on my bigger suitcase. We'll see what happens at the airport. But I'm basically done. I just have to add a few odds and ends, as well as pack up my laptop, etc.

So I'm taking:

• 2 full suitcases
  
• a carry-on bag that's like a mini duffel bag
• a laptop bag

In about 12 hours from now I'll be at my gate. !!!

Airport in 48 hours. Yikes.

((( In case you don't get it, banana ooyoo = Banana Milk. I love this stuff. It's just flavored milk, and I'm not even sure if it's actual milk. Whatever. But it's definitely my beverage of choice when I eat snackfood. ))) 

I'm leaving in two days. It's pretty surreal. I don't feel like I'm leaving. I'm actually procrastinating on  packing right now, but I'm anxious enough that I know I'm going to get up and do some packing in a few minutes.

Things I really need to do:

1. Buy an adapter for my laptop.
2. Fill out my financial aid forms.
3. Call my bank to let them know I'm going to be in another country.
4. Buy a camera?

Yeah. My camera died. Wonderful. LUCKILY, my current one is under warranty so I can send it back, but I'll be in Korea by the time they ship it to me. Thus my dad said just to buy a decent camera @ Costco tomorrow. Hooray for me. 

RIP :(

Eventually I'll put up a list of expectations I have for the trip, but that'll come when I want to procrastinate even more. 

But until then, enjoy this picture of street art I took when I got lost last last summer in Seoul. I plan on getting lost some more this time around (best way to get to know a city, IMHO), which means more pictures on my NEW camera.

My flight for Korea leaves 12:00 midnight on February 18. That means I leave for Korea in less than two weeks. Freak out. My return date is July 2, but we'll see if that changes, but I doubt it.
